Monday gave us a beautiful sunrise.
With temperatures dipping into the low 50s overnight, the morning air was clean and cool. Finally, South Floridians turned off the AC, opened the windows, and broke out their jackets. A collective sigh of relief could be heard across the state.
Monday sunrises remind me that there is always something to look forward to, no matter how much I’m dreading the work week… or how messy my apartment is… or how many tasks I have to check off my “to-do” list. Sunrises are an indicator that it’s all good – God’s got my back. A sunrise means I have another chance to live a day to its fullest. Every time that orange ball climbs into the sky, I get a “do-over.”
Perhaps our state’s favorite philosopher, Jimmy Buffet, said it best:
Come Monday, it’ll be all right,
Come Monday, I’ll be holding you tight.
I spent four lonely days in a brown L.A. haze
And I just want you back by my side.
Come Monday, we get to start fresh. Forget last week’s haze and look forward to the promises the upcoming days hold.
And if Monday sucks, you can always take Alan Jackson’s advice and commit to ensuring it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
xo,
