Here in South Florida it can be difficult to get into the holiday mood. The temperature is still in the upper 80s and you break a sweat while sipping your Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte. Everyone is more excited about the end of hurricane season than about “sweater weather.” Does Santa deliver presents in a red bathing suit on a jet ski? Or do the elves equip his sleigh for a water landing?
Have no fear! The Junior League of the Palm Beaches has your dose of Florida Christmas spirit covered. Come “flamingle” this Saturday, November 21st, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at “Deck the Palms” Holiday Market at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. General Admission is FREE (Yes, ladies & gents, FREE!) and VIP tickets are $20. Shop over 120 local vendors and get a head start on your Christmas and Hanukkah shopping!
Better yet, all proceeds from vendor booth rentals go directly to the Junior League of the Palm Beaches’s community projects, which benefit foster children in Palm Beach County. Now that’s spreading some holiday cheer!
Here are two vendors that I am particularly looking forward to this year:

This Palm Beach Gardens based shop specializes in preppy items for your home as well as monogrammed clothing and accessories. I adore their monogrammed floppy beach hat! Perfect for a day at Carlin Park!

The work of this husband and wife team is to die for! The couple creates handmade surfboard and beach bags. Maybe I need a bag to go along with my floppy hat?

For JUP Mamas and JUP Brides out there – don’t despair, bring your kiddies and hubbies along for the fun! This year, the VIP section boasts a “Man Cave.” Drop off your beau for beer and sports games before you shop. Santa will also be making an appearance so make sure your little ones bring their Christmas wishlists. I have also heard a rumor that there will be elves on stilts!
I’m looking forward to “flamingling” with you!

E
