Are you ready to hang twenty? Jupiter’s canines are!
Join Furry Friends Adoption & Clinic at Carlin Park in Jupiter this Saturday, August 29th, for the Hang 20 Surf Dog Classic where local pups will ride the waves. The beach side event begins at 8:00 a.m.
Don’t believe me? Check out this video from The Palm Beach Post, which includes an interview with Karen Counts, Programs Director at Furry Friends. (Video by Bruce R. Bennett)
These dog athletes will be competing on Saturday for the coveted Top Dog trophy. Pups and their owners have come from across the state from as far away as St. Petersburg, Merritt Island, and Port St. Lucie to participate. Furry Friends has even helped competitors prepare by offering surf lessons each weekend leading up to the event. All proceeds from entry fees will go toward the non-profit adoption center and clinic. Want to enter your dog? Both the small and medium dog heats are sold out but entries are still being accepted for the large dog and stand-up paddle board heats. The entrance fee is $25 with an additional fee of $15 for board rental and $5 for the mandatory life vest.
Don’t have a dog but want to help the cause? Enter the Perfect Drink Contest sponsored by Perfect Vodka. Simply submit a cocktail recipe using Perfect Vodka to the Hang 20 Surf Dog Classic Facebook event page. Perfect Vodka must be one of your four or less ingredients and your recipe must have a dog related moniker.
I do know of one dog who will not be participating this year. He would rather beg for popcorn all day.

See you Saturday!
xoxo,
