About Me

Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by!

My name is Emily (Sawyer) McGlon and I am JUP Girl.

I was born and raised in Jupiter, Florida, also known as heaven on earth.

I love the beach, good books, and the Fourth of July.

I am married to the sweetest Southern gentleman.  I call him P.  We have a tiny JUP Baby.  We call her Lil.

Join me as I explore my hometown.

JUP Girl is a blog very much in its infancy.  I started writing in July 2015 after two teenage boys from Jupiter went missing at sea.  The tragedy of Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen soon became a national story, airing on news stations across the country.  Throughout the weeks following July 24, 2015, our small town banded together in support of the boys and their families: holding prayer vigils, releasing lanterns, conducting our own private searches, and organizing fundraisers.  Austin and Perry were never found.

In the violence and chaos of the world we live in today, I recognized that the love and assistance Jupiter residents give to their neighbors make our town unique.  I wanted to capture this essence in my blog and share it with others around the country and the world, whether you are planning a visit to our area, a JUP native like myself, or just a fellow blogger checking out my photos and copy.

In addition to sharing Jupiter venues, events, history, and facts – the “JUP Life” – I’ve also included posts of something I love to do – eat!  Check out local restaurants (and an occasional recipe) under “JUP Girl Eats.”  Fellow bookworm?  Head on over to “JUP Girl Beach Reads” to see what books are packed in my beach bag.  Explore other destinations outside of Jupiter by reading posts under “JUP Girl Travels.”  Want to know what I’m up to at the “beach house?”  Take a peek at “JUP Girl at Home.”

Want to get in touch with me? I’d love to hear from you! Know of a cool spot or event I should check out?  Drop me a line at NativeJUP@gmail.com. You can also find me on Instagram: @missemrenee.

Sponsored posts, giveaways, and reviews: Are you a local business in Jupiter? Do you sell a product that you think would be a good fit for our beach town?  If you would like to participate in a sponsored post, giveaway, or product review, please email me at NativeJUP@gmail.com.

I’m always looking to learn from others.  Advice from expert bloggers and techies is VERY much welcome.  Shoot me an email at NativeJUP@gmail.com.  I’m technically challenged.
